*flashback to Christmas day*

Mom: Now you can move your games over to the Mac, and stop complaining to us about your crappy computer!

Me: Yeah, but since they’ll both still be used and working by me, I don’t really need to move my old games over. I’ll just put any new games I get on it.

Mom: Oh. Well then why’d we even bother buying it?

Me: Well it’s faster at everything.. I’m just too lazy to move everything I have over to it. Besides, its normally the game itself that prevents me from playing, not the computer…

*flashback ends*

Oh, if only I knew… I’ve learned by lesson now anyways, and I will be moving it to the Mac A.S.A.P., and so I spent the day getting framework and the actual game installed, so all I’ll need to do is move the save file and CC over and we’ll be ready to go! Oh, and the game looks so freaking awesome on this new computer! I can’t get over it!

It looks so much better! Anyways, I’ll update you guys as soon as I know if I can get the Elseas back.

Well first, you must actually go on vacation have a fantiastical adventure! Our Mummy-Sim Joseph went with his wife, Stacey. Egypt was pretty dull, all they had was a market and tombs. For those who don’t really want to explore tombs, I’d suggest France or China. However, luckily for Joseph, the Egyptian Tomb he explored (it was in the small pyramid) contained the pieces needed to construct the sarcophagus. Lucky for us, we got the correct kind that allowed our sim to be transformed! Apparently there’s another type that simply lets you summon a mummy to be added to your family, but where’s the fun in that?

Anyways, after a good night’s sleep in previously mentioned sarcophagus, we have our new mummy sim!

Anyways, one of the first things I tested out was to Edit Joseph in the CAS just to see what, if anything, could be changed around. Fat and Muscle sliders actually change mummies, as do all of the custom sliders like shoulders, head, and height. Some, I’d estimate about half, of the default EA sliders work. You can also add facial hair if it isn’t something ‘flat’ like stubble. One thing I was disapointed with was that we are unable to change eye color, they always have that eery green look. Apparently death changes eye color.

My biggest concern is how horribly, horribly slow they walk. It’s maddening, especially since regular animations, even ones as quick moving as practice dummies for martial arts, stay the same. He moves super quick when training, but he walks insanely slow. I guess it was to compensate for never needing to use the bathroom or sleep. His poor pregnant wife (child was conceived before mummification) had to wait in the car for him, because he can’t run. Which, by the way, means that if you have him ‘jog’ anywhere for the athletic skill, he moves at the slow, slow pace while still gaining athelticism.

Joseph’s so slow even Egyptian Mr. Gnome starting making fun of him!

One last thing that really annoyed Joseph was his newfound infertility. Yep, Mummies can do everything a human can do, including Woohoo, it’s just impossible for them to have a child. Big downside considering Joseph was family oriented. Also, playable mummies cannot (as far as I can tell) curse other people, so no forming huge mummy armies for you!  One final thing to note is that if a mummy catches on fire, they die immediately, so no unupgraded fireplaces or ovens for Joseph!

Oh and just one MAJOR warning: Make sure the first time you play to use a test family first, because many people (including myself) are encountering issues where certain CC items cause 90% of lots in the neighborhood to turn blue, thus destroyed the saved game. A good way to test CC is to make a test family, put the CC in question on their lot, save, go to main menu, and return. If the lots are fine, that means the CC is safe. Another easy way to test is to simply save the game w/ the CC, go on vacation, and return early. Everyone is used to Tamara’s crazy stuff by now.. Parker doesn’t even feel the need to see why Marcie is yelling.

Plus, he’s still a little mad at her over the whole Davis incident.

“Do you hear something?”

Oh, you mean the fire Tamara started?

“Probably.”

Marcie’s got it handled.

“Okay then.”

It’s not unusual for somebody to be yelling about their grandmother eating dirt in this house. Nicholas is getting pretty sick of it.

Completely autonomous! They slept in the same bed, but Katy and Marcie refused to, so Katy had to sleep on the bed. Davis and Laron are best friends, but I didn’t know they were that friendly..

“Oh shush! I think it’s hot!”

Well Katy, thats weird.

Moving on!

Tamara’s going to apologize to practically the whole family today, apparently. (She rolled the wants to apologize to Katy, Parker, and Nicholas at least.) It’s been really frustrating around the house, and Tamara missed her younger years, but it finally clicked after the second house fire in a week.

But it clicked just a little too late.

Tamara was about 95 days old, and considering she had 7 kids, she lived a pretty long life.

Even worse, it happened on her grandson’s birthday.

It was a very bittersweet party.

Whew! I’ve been sitting on these pictures for a while, and I’m glad to finally have caught up with my playing! In case you guys didn’t notice, the past few updates I’ve really taken a liking to Tamara, and then Bam! I actually wanted her end-life crisis thing to go on a bit longer, but then she rolled up all the apology wants and grimmy came.. Luckily Tamara was a bit older than Parker, but he could go anyday now also!

Oh, and this happened the morning after Davis and Laron shared a bed:

“I’m going to phrase this is the nicest way I know how, Mom. Please stop staring and flirting with me, It’s very creepy. I’m married to your daughter and I’m 40 years younger than you!”

Tamara has gotten out of hand lately.

“Oh! I’m sorry Laron, were you in the shower? Well don’t mind me, I’m just going to uh.. Stare at this nice plant!”

“Wow! Those two are naughty, eh Marcie? Oh my! I didn’t know people still did that! Back when I was you age I–”

“Mom. I beg you to stop talking.”

“Gross Grandma! Why would you ever want to eat dirt? That’s disgusting!”

“Don’t you know there could be bugs or something in there? You could’ve just eaten a fly!”

Practically the only person who hasn’t been weirded out by Tamara lately has been Nicholas.

Maybe he’s been busy with other things..

Her name is not important.

They have been getting very busy.

Since there’s three artistic people in the house, Parker sprung for an easel. He still needs some practice.

“Hey! I paint just fine!”

Yeah, a 5 dollar painting! Woo!

“Don’t be sarcastic with me young man!”

Oh, sorry grandpa.

Tamara decided to bump up her flirting with a old lady makeover.

It didn’t go over well.

Lily decided to go try and enroll in the local arts school. A virtuoso/natural cook such as herself would fit right in there. She also saw old ladies wearing too little.

“Ugh. Some women need to realize their age.”

Little did she know her grandmother heard the whole thing.

Tamara had been having (another) late life crisis and decided to go out one last time.

During all of this Marcie had been improving her painting skills as well.

So yeah! Here’s one last little picture:

I was going to have Tamara party at the library at first to show her true old-ladyness, but having old Tamara there as well could cause some weird time discontinuity thing so she went to the theater with Lily instead. I know this is technically late, but I did have the update finished on Tuesday, the internet just wasn’t working. (I had to import all this to my friend’s computer with a flash drive!)

So, whenever I go from Buy/Build mode to Live mode, I get stuck with the little loading cursor and the buy/build interface, and the game basically freezes. This happens to all the households I’ve tried, so I’m pretty sure it isn’t a lot problem. Plus, since the game works fine while in Live mode, I doubt it’s actually a certain piece or furniture. The only new ones I’ve downloaded that could be causing the problems are all from ModtheSims or TSR. I can place all the objects fine.

And the only mods I have are NRAAS stuff, Teen Pregnancy, and NoNewspaper. I doubt any of those would cause this. However, I haven’t tested different save games, or uninhabited houses, so I’ll get back to you guys on that. If anyone has heard of this problem and knows a possible fix, I’d love to hear it. Otherwise I might have to evict the family, buy stuff, move them back in, and then adjust their money using familyfunds, which is not what I want to do. Update is about halfway done, so expect it about Tuesday.

—> News! This problem only happens in the one save file, so I’m going to try and transfer the lot into a new save file and see if that works. I might transfer the three sisters out as well, but I won’t promise anything. Wish me luck!

—> Okay, problem solved! Transferring to a new savefile worked, but in the process Michelle, Isabelle and Jenny were kaboomed.

Wouldn’t that be weird if he read this blog? Haha, maybe he can give me extra credit for AP Chemistry since my founder worked as a scientist. So yeah. Next week = an update. I promise.

Oh, and the flu did not make this easier either.
